Mercer finished all of his Science work on Thursday so we played a board game and chess during class.

He took his spelling test and made a 100. He wrote his new spelling words for next week, and we reviewed what his spelling homework would be. He took another timed practice test for the SSAT, and did much better.

Mercer continued exercises from the 6th grade math Envision textbook, all four operations with fractions.

Mercer worked on his science reading and written assignment that included Lesson 4: Motion and Speed and discussed the topics of distance, time, and speed and how they are related.

We started a "Rockalingua" activity about spring practicing the seasons of the year and the terms: I like it and I don't like it.

Today we did a Valentine's Day activity, in which he learned words related to the holiday in Spanish.

We went over his SSAT timed test from yesterday going over the questions he missed and working on strategies for improving his score. We reviewed his spelling homework, reiterating the directions and encouraging him not to take short cuts. He completed an activity with his Wordly Wise words reinforcing their meanings and usage.

Mercer completed an exercise from the 6th grade math Envision textbook, repeating and terminating decimals.

Mercer began class with a cardiovascular warmup. Next, he participated in individual badminton hitting practice. Lastly, Mercer took part in a fun, competitive game of badminton with his teacher.

He took his first timed practice test for SSAT using the official answer sheet. The test was timed for 30 minutes. He worked steadfastly and conscientiously throughout the entire 30 minute session. We corrected it together, going over mistakes and implementing strategies to use with the next test.
