He learned about Moses' unique wisdom, courage, and what the Egyptians called a divine presence, a description that complies with Moses' biblical description in Exodus, 11, 3: "the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people." Mercer discussed proof of historical figures.
