Mercer's ideas were great. He chose a skull in a garden scene. We looked at images form antiquity that used a similar idea and created a border to get ready to sketch.
Mercer completed a review of Chapter 6 from the 6th grade math Envision textbook. He also won a game of chess against his teacher which has become fairly common of late.
We continued working on reading and playing sixteenth notes. We began working on Solo #3 from Alfred’s Snare Drum Method. We also continued working on playing the basic rock beat on the drum set.
Mercer was introduced to Ten Hundred, a graffiti artist, and given an opportunity to choose an image that he would like to use for his tribute painting project. Mercer chose one of his newest pieces called Hoodie Kid.
Mercer and I continued working on his tribute to Ten Hundred painting. Mercer placed carbon paper over his canvas, placed the image over the carbon paper, and traced the image to create a transfer to the canvas. Mercer removed the traced image and the carbon paper to reveal his work. Mercer was given some turquoise paint and instructed to paint the background of his image.
