He finished his guided practice 15-32 assignment on complete subjects and complete predicate. We continued reading, "The Swan." We discussed the events and vocabulary words in the story.
Lesson 4 Pure Substances and Mixtures: We learned how compounds are classified. They can be classified as acidic, basic, or neutral. They can also be classified as organic or inorganic or by their role in the human body. Biochemicals are divided into 4 categories: carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. Next we learned that mixtures are a combination of two or more substances that are combined physically but not chemically. Mixtures contain more than one type of substance unlike elements and compounds.
Assignment: Conduct an experiment to test the pH levels of several liquids with litmus paper.
Reasing comprehension, Complete Subject and Complete Predicate
Lesson Outline
Discussed how every sentence has two parts, a subject and a predicate. We then worked on guided and independent practice sentences.
When we finished working on sentences, we started reading our reading comprehension story, "The Swan."
He started his English notebook today. He copied down the definition of a sentence. We discussed the 4 types of sentences. He copied them down in his notebook along with their definitions. Then he did a worksheet on which type of punctuation mark is required after each sentence.
Read aloud "Sam's Summer Search." Started his vocabulary notebook with 8 words from the story. Copied down the words and their meaning. Answered questions about the story.
