What is Personification? Listened to a motivational speech by Vann Morris, as he personified the American Flag. This is a perfect example of personification. Then Mercer colored, cut out, and gave words to his own American flag.
Today's lesson focused on the Phoenicians. Mercer read material about the inventions of the Phoenicians, which included glass blowing, purple dye, and the first alphabet. Mercer participated in discussing the myths and stories told by the Phoenicians about sea monsters to prevent others from claiming what they thought was their territory.

Mercer began class with a jumping jack warmup. He completed 4 sets of jumps, focusing on correct form which includes the full extension of his arms and legs. Next, he completed 4 sets of 30 sit-ups.

Lesson Outline
We began by reviewing sixteenth note rhythms in Alfred’s Snare Drum Method One, and then proceeded to the next lesson on playing eighth note and sixteenth note combinations. We also worked on 3 way coordination by playing the basic rock beat, and playing constant eighth notes on the hi hat with the right hand, quarter notes on beats 1 and 3 with the right foot, and playing quarter notes on beats 2 and 4 on the snare drum with the left hand.
