We started today's lesson with Typing Club. Henry was having a difficult time with the keys under his middle fingers. He wanted to stop because he was getting frustrated with his progress. I told him we would continue next week instead. We then went on to learn about Google Slides. I am teaching him how to use Slides to create presentations for his classes. The topic he chose to do a mock presentation on is Florida Plants. He is enjoying using the program.
Today, Charlie practiced using all of the R U I E keys along with the home row keys. His accuracy is at 100% and his speed is 15wpm. We then put Dash's launcher to the test and played around with launching the plastic balls into a trash can.
Henry continued to practice letters on the home row today. He worked on keys S, L, A, and ; . He did a very nice job. It would be great if he could set aside some time to practice during the week. He is getting really good. He also coded Dash to say a knock knock joke. Henry had fun with it.
Today Charlie practiced letters R and U on the keyboard. He is such a wiz and is doing great with typing. I would love to see him practice typing a couple days a week to strengthen his skills even more. We also started to set up Dash's launcher. We will play with the launcher more Thursday.
Jayne continued to work on the home row keys of D and K. She did an awesome job at not looking at the keyboard and focusing on where the letters are located. I would love if she could set aside 10 minutes a couple days a week to work on the skills she has learned so far. The website is battschool.typingclub.com and her login information is JayneB/student. She then got to code Dash the Snowman today. She learned eye patterns and repeating code patterns. She really enjoyed the part when Dash told a knock knock joke.
Today Dylan practiced the letters D and K from the home row. He was having some trouble with remembering where the keys are, but I kept reminding him that he is still learning and to not get upset with himself. He then got to code Dash the Snowman today. He learned eye patterns and repeating code patterns.
Today Henry and I started a computer elective together. He told me about his interests and all about his garden. We will be working on typing together. He has previous experience with Typing Club, but he felt that is was best to start from the beginning since he hasn't practiced in awhile. I also introduced him to a robot named Dash that we will be using to code. Henry picked it up quickly and enjoyed Dash.
Today Charlie finished learning the home row keys. His accuracy is very good. I would like Charlie to review the lessons he has already completed for extra practice. He agreed to this. He also completed an obstacle for dash. He traveled along green tape that I placed on the floor and made Dash make different sounds.
Jayne and I have now started a computers elective together. Today we began basic typing skills working on the home-row letters F and J. She was very good at it and picked it up quickly. The most important point I will continue to remind her is to not look at the keyboard. She also met Dash today. He is the robot with which we will complete basic coding activities. She really enjoyed him!
Today Dylan continued to work on the keyboard keys of F and J. He was also introduced D and K. He is doing very well with the letters so far. He sometimes gets frustrated with himself when he makes a mistake, but I continue to remind him that he is a learner and mistakes are totally fine and will happen. We also did some programming with Dash. Dylan made Dash say funny things and drive really fast.

Can I assign homework for him to practice on the keyboard at home? I feel that having me once a week is not enough to practice learning the keyboard.
