Learning to Type
Lesson Outline
Today I set Dylan up with his account on battschool.typingclub.com. I saved this website onto his "favorites" as well. His username is DylanS and password is student. He can practice at home if he likes. He learned where the home-row is located and which fingers go where. We started with letters F and J today. He knows he should not look at the keyboard when typing, and should feel for the little bumps on the F and J keys to set his fingers up. He did a great job during practice. We also played with Dash by giving him simple commands to follow using a program app called Blockly.

Jackson installed and configured the plugin on his google drive, and the scheduled an email of the card that he made. Lastly, Jackson continued to practice typing paragraphs using the home-row position. Jackson is increasing his speed and accuracy continually, and is now at an average 16-18wpm and around 98% accuracy.

IT: typing, photoediting, software vs hardware
Lesson Outline
Today we began with typing practice. Jackson was able to increase his typing speed by 7wpm while keeping the accuracy at 99%. Next, we discussed the difference between hardware and software. We took an interactive tour of all the hardware in a computer. We discussed RAM as the 'brain' of the computer that determines how much capacity a computer has to run its software. Next, I showed Jackson how to use Google Docs, and how to share a document. I asked him to come up with an idea for an announcement or message he would want to design and send. He found an image, and I introduced him to an online photo editing program. Then I took him through all the different photo measures that can be changed to edit a photo for different purposes. Next, I showed him how to add text to the photo.

Today, Stephen and I played a science game on the computer about Earth. Next, he played a game in which you have to turn a rectangular object in order to make it move around a board and fall into a specified location. It was very challenging!
