Bella was absent this afternoon.

We attended the Black History Month presentations.

Today President Biden named U.S. Circuit Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Judge Jackson may become the first Black woman to serve on the nation’s highest court in its 233-year history. Jackson, a 51-year-old federal appeals court judge in Washington, D.C., has long been considered a frontrunner for the president’s first Supreme Court nomination. Because she was recently confirmed by the Senate with bipartisan support, her selection is a signal the White House is aiming for a drama-free confirmation – or, at the very least, a less messy fight than has been the case for recent nominees. Bella learned about the checks & balance process of how a Supreme Court nominee is chosen, vetted and approved to sit on the Supreme Court - which they do for life or until they choose to retire.

We learned how to convert between mass and moles using molar mass.

Bella researched, created, and wrote a Powerpoint on the life of Rosa Parks for Black History month. She then found graphics and pictures of Parks to use as backgrounds for her slides that coincided with the text on each slide.

Bella and I discussed her interests as a continuation of finding her engaging written Spanish material.

Learning of her aspirations to be a nurse, we read about Florence Nightengale. As we read, we discussed grammatical concepts from Spanish. As examples, she encountered the word "menor" which was covered in our lesson about comparatives, and she encountered the present, preterite, infinitive, and imperfect of "ser." We would discuss those conjugations as we read.

I used Musescore to reinforce Bella's learning of lines and spaces, then she practiced sight-singing the input melodies. We also performed rhythm exercise lessons on YouTube.
