Bella answered most verbal review questions I posed today correctly the first time. Questions that she struggled with initially, she used known facts, observation and reason to arrive at the correct answer.
We plan to apply what she learned today and finish the full set of foil highlights on her mannequin head on Thursday.
We went over the homework from Monday.
1-7 Absolute Value Equations and Inequalities – We reviewed the steps to find a solution to an absolute value equation. The answer has two solutions, one positive and one negative, or if there is no value of x that makes the absolute value equation true, it has no solution.
Assignment: For homework complete assigned problems.
Bella completed the descriptive essay on her dad. She edited for specific diction, imagery, punctuation, and quotations. She then reviewed her SAT vocabulary with an online timed game.
We discussed the Bohr model of the atom. We then related ground and excited states to atomic emission spectra. We used a gas discharge tube to observe the atomic emission spectra of elements ourselves.
Bella worked on an open book quiz in class today. It was about the new nation under George Washington's presidency, once the Constitution went into effect. The quiz consisted of 22 objective questions. Bella asked if she could complete the quiz during lunch and turn it in after and I agreed that was fine. Bella knows where to find me to turn her quiz in after lunch.

Bella brought the completed quiz to me at lunchtime. She scored 97% with extra time. The score will be weighted to reflect this as other students did not receive this extra time.
Solving inequalities and compound inequalities in One Variable – We reviewed the rules for solving inequalities. When you divide or multiply by a negative integer you change the direction of the inequality symbol. Next we solved and graphed several inequalities and compound inequalities.
