In today's class, we would have covered the topic of mutagens, including what they are, what types there are, and how they play a role in biology and everyday life. This would have tied into what we talked about previously about mutations.

The Supreme Court Meeting Today Re: Affirmative Action in College Admissions
Lesson Outline
Affirmative action is defined as the practice or policy of favoring individuals belonging to groups known to have been discriminated against previously. The Supreme Court is meeting today to consider colleges and universities in higher education. Challengers in the case are targeting Harvard and the Univ. of North Carolina arguing that their programs "violate equal protection principles, dash the promise of a colorblind society..." They are urging the court to overturn precedent and that schools should explore and further develop race-neutral alternatives to achieve diversity. At least 9 states have already chosen to end consideration of race in university admissions, including AZ, CA, FL, ID, MI, NE, OK and WA, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. A Washington Post poll found that 63% of US adults support the Supreme Court banning colleges and universities from considering a student’s race and ethnicity when making decisions about student admissions. At the same time, 64% also say that in general, programs designed to increase the racial diversity of students on college campuses are a good thing.

She completed an IXL grammar exercise called, "Is it a phrase or a clause?" We discussed the plot events of Scene 3 of Othello. Bella began the following assignment: Read up to line 49. The Duke and Senators conclude that the Turkish fleet is heading for Cyprus and give orders for Othello to lead the Venetian counter-attack.. Write the formal statement published by the Duke's press office. Briefly explain the case for war against the Turks, and outline the strategic decisions made by the Senate.
