Today, Bella completed the second half of Warm-Up #3 in "Calisthenics for the Brain." She then completed the following IXL grammar exercise: identifying complete subject and complete predicate. She then responded in sentence form to the following literature assignment: Look at the production photographs below and on page 16. How do these productions differ in their visual presentation of Othello? Are either of them how you imagine Othello to look? If not, why not? Can you suggest another way to present Othello (perhaps think of a particular actor who might suit the part)?
In two weeks, Americans will cast their votes in the U.S. midterm elections. Today we looked at how Democrats currently control both the U.S. House and U.S. Senate...but only by a small margin. We also looked at early voter turnout and how that compares to previous years. Bella shared some new family history documentation in class today, from the 1882 passport a distant relative to photos of her great-grandma and her beloved Grandpa Sam.
In today's class, we would have done an activity on mutations, where Bella would be prompted with flashcards with different mutations and she would have to sort them into their appropriate category based on the type of mutation that it was.

Bella was absent from class today. We will continue what we would have done today, tomorrow.
Today, Bella completed an IXL grammar activity on identifying run-on sentences. We then worked on the following assignment: If you were directing a production of the play, what effect would you want to create with Othello's entrance? Write a paragraph response to this question.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Democrat Charlie Crist went toe-to-toe on abortion, Hurricane Ian response, the state’s ongoing culture wars and the rising Republican’s future political ambitions in an hour-long debate that produced a handful of notable moments that may just yet fire up Democrats in this state. Down in the polls and nearly out of campaign money, Crist entered the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce, Florida, with almost nothing left to lose and he repeatedly put DeSantis on the defensive over the divisive agenda that has catapulted the Republican into GOP stardom. Crist’s objective Monday was twofold: build momentum for the final weeks of the Florida race and bruise the national reputation of DeSantis, who is also weighing a potential presidential primary campaign against former President Donald Trump as he seeks reelection as governor.
