Tristan started a watercolor Yoda painting. We started by adding a border because he wanted to add a matte and frame. We sketched Yoda and began to add color. We started by mixing green and brown to make the proper green color.
Work on Tristan's landscape painting. We filled in the background sky and clouds. We then started a to add details to a helicopter that's in the reference photo. We went over why the helicopter has more details than some of the trees. Decide whether the helicopter is in the foreground, middle ground or background.
Tristan and I worked on his landscape painting. We worked on the background and went over how objects and details in the distance are less detailed than the objects in the foreground.
Tristan completed homework such as, math - adding to decades, filling in the missing number, receiving 100%; language arts - vocabulary - match the meaning and complete the sentences using the words - create, misty, dainty, roam, and jealous.
We warmed up with a nonfiction NatGeo book about penguins, followed by a game on Lumosity. Next, Tristan read the Primary Phonics book "The Cake" fluently (twice), followed by another quick Lumosity game. Finally, he read alternate pages of a NatGeo book about weather. Although this was a level 1 book, I was incredibly proud of his effort and success with it.
Tristan attempted to work on a map activity requiring that he figure out the directions to get to different areas on a map. He needed to do so by following the routes given and indicating if one needed to go NW, NE, SW, or SE. I broke the task up into different parts and offered to collaborate with him.
