Tristan learned how to use the Micron pens. We first practiced on a scrap paper how to push down on the Microns because you don't have to press hard. Then we focused on going slow and controlling the pen. Then we added a matte board around Tristan's Yoda drawing.
Tristan worked on finishing his Yoda watercolor painting. He added brown to the jacket that Yoda wears and added stripes to the coffee cup that he's holding in the reference image. I then showed him where to add shadows around the cup and sleeves of the jacket and he filled them in with dark brown. Tristan then chose a background and filled it in with a light wash.
Tristan worked on his Yoda watercolor painting. He finished adding the green skin. I then showed him how to mix the color with black to create the shadows that go around the eyes. Then I showed him how to add black to the first eye and leave little white spots for highlights and he did the right side afterwards. He then added pink to the inside of the ears.

Lesson Comments
I subbed for Debbie today, Friday, 5-20-22, with Tristan from 12:30 - 1:30 (SS).
Reviewed the rules for identifying which sound /y/ makes in a word (correctly identified for consonant sound and 1 syllable, did not independently identify 2+ syllable sound).
Auditory drill with sounds of /y/; correctly spelled try, yet; incorrectly spelled silly (siley)
Blending drill: 1 syllable /y/ nonsense words (zy, py, ly, etc); 2 syllable /y/ nonsense words (zipy, taby, pipy, etc)
Tristan had excellent participation in today's lesson, and showed drive to learn and master these phonemes.
