We focused on musical intervals, using the openings of specific songs as a memory-jogger for each interval. Jaydn found that this (long-established) method works well for her, and we moved on to her sight-singing a song from notation, a skill we shall develop, that features in every Voice syllabus. She then tried a "patter-song' (very fast words) to train diction, and ended with "I believe I can fly" (for its many open-vowel-type lyrics technique).

I hadn't realised Jaydn uses her PHONE for virtual lessons. Viewing screenshared lyrics, information and instructions would be FAR better on a laptop or desktop. Jaydn often takes a while to react to something onscreen because however big I make it, it's only on the PHONE. (Just sayin'.)
We reviewed "Revolutions in Art" covered last week. We discussed the three types of mid-late 19th century art: Romantiscism, Realism and Impressionism. Since Jaydn didn't complete her HW assigned on 9/29, I sent an email after class to clarify the assignment so that it is completed for class tomorrow. Jaydn needs to: 1.Write a paragraph on which of the 19th century artistic movements (Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism - pp. 698 - 701 from class last week) is the most appealing to her and why. 2. Read pp. 716 - 722 in text 3 . As per our discussion today, please take some time to really focus on your text vs. digital lessons in your email to consider "readability." Which one is your preference? Choose the one that you like best. We'll discuss next class.

I don't think the 10th grade level Modern World History text is a fit for Jaydyn. We have a Modern World History digital curriculum that is better suited to Jaydn's learning needs.
Jaydn read, analyzed, and discussed the next two chapters of The Glass Castle. She then wrote a short essay discussing the theme of illusion and disillusion. She integrated the character traits of the protagonist and her parents within the essay and also used text-based quotes for support.

Jaydn did not have her camera on for me to assess her fingerspelling and signing. A worksheet activity was provided to her regarding the deaf culture.
The plan was to explain to Jaydn the properties of various angles, including: zero, acute, right, obtuse, and straight angles. I was also going to introduce pairs of angles, such as supplementary, complementary, adjacent, and straight angles. I was going to show Jaydn some problems and ask her to solve problems with the definitions she learned today. Unfortunately, Jaydn was not able to attned class today. There was no assignment.
