The French and Indian War was fought in North America between the British & French fighting with their Indian allies. The fight was over territory in eastern Canada through the Ohio River Valley to New Orleans. Although British efforts failed for several years, the tide of war turns in favor of the British. Several decisive military victories followed, with the French finally ceding their territory east of the Mississippi in the 1863 Treaty of Paris. The British claimed military success in the war, but their territorial expansion was costly. To finance the French and Indian War, the British government enacted heavy taxes on American colonists, unknowingly adding fuel to a fire that would ultimately become the American Revolution.
Today we started to study the present progressive and adapt it to the vocabulary we are studying about going on a trip. She created sentences in the present progressive, understanding the way they are formed in Spanish.

In the 17th & 18th centuries, it was common for slavery to be prevalent within the various colonies of Colonial America. Slavery in Colonial America started in the south with Virginia Native Americans being captured as slaves. The first slaves arrived in Jamestown, VA in 1619. Throughout the 17th century, race-based slavery in Colonial America grew rapidly. The human trafficking relationship, between Europe, The Americas, and Africa began as a result of common practice in Europe for hundreds of years. In New England, colonists brought over indentured Europeans and enslaved indigenous Native Americans, typically captured during the war. But eventually, imported slaves begin to replace indentured servants and enslaved indigenous people in the 13 colonies including slaves in the Triangular Trade routes between Europe, N. The 13 original British colonies in North America were founded at varying times, for various reasons, as either charter, royal, or proprietary colonies. Beginning with the first permanent settlement in Jamestown, Virginia Colony, the English would go on to gain a permanent control over the entire Atlantic seaboard. The colonies grew in relative independence because of the political upheaval of the English Civil War. After the war, England wanted to establish control over the colonies. King Charles II recognized the need to compromise with colonial leaders and established salutary neglect policies, recognizing colonial independence but Crown power to regulate trade. Over the next five decades the colonies grew in relative independence but felt tension from increased and diversified immigration and involvement in British wars for the empire like the French and Indian War. These tensions would lead to the next great conflict involving the colonies: The American Revolution.
