Will is continuing to practice formatting in MS Word. He is working on a new document, applying and modifying pre-defined styles, inserting section breaks, and creating headers and footers.
Will practiced creating charts for a Word document. When he chose to insert a chart, Word opened Excel, and Will had to input the data in Excel. The chart then appeared in his Word document where he was able to format and change style.
Will continued to work on formatting an MS Word document. Today, he practiced inserting and formatting a table, including changing the border format, adding color, and including a caption. Will also added and formatted sub headers in the document.
Will finished formatting yesterday's document, inserting pictures and formatting the text around the pictures and making sure the document stayed on two pages. He then started formatting a Word document to the MLA standard for essays.
After downloading a document I sent to him via email, Will worked on formatting it. He created a title using WordArt, added columns, changed the font, used the format painter tool, and inserted and formatted pictures.
Will practiced using his email to send links to information on the Internet. We discussed the importance of including a message so that the recipient would know to trust the sender and the link.
I introduced Will to a website that lets him create a Star Wars avatar. He made two different avatars based on Star Wars characters and saved them to his computer.
Will continued to add complexity to his latest Scratch project. The project features a polar bear eating a donut and bouncing an orange. He finished writing the script for the eaten donut and shared his final project with the Scratch community.
Will is learning how to use some different script blocks to animate a story. He successfully created scripts that have dependencies and use broadcasts that pass actions from one sprite to another.
