Review HW question answers and analyze answers. Explain why the entropy of the universe is calculated by calculating the entropy of the system and the surroundings. Discuss how and why a chemical reaction becomes spontaneous. Present an example to demonstrate the concept. Work through the complex 3 step procedure to arrive at an entropy measure which would support a spontaneous reaction occurring.

We focused on conversation and addressed topics such as what he did last weekend, his favorite colleges and his plans for the Thanksgiving week. We reviewed the perfect tense with the auxiliary verb ´sein´ and started watching an Easy German video on the topic of what Germans do on a Sunday.
Using DH Lawrence's poem,"The Snake," we continued ongoing instruction on writing an interpretative AP style essay . I reviewed with Joshua his homework essay and provided instruction and edits on preparing an interpretative thesis statement that addresses the speaker's complex relationship with his moral dilemma. As Joshua's essay ,as always, contained good evidence but required commentary, I provided instruction and proposed sentences that would provide commentary that explain how the identified similes, and personifications, highlight the speaker's quandary as he realizes ,like the Mariner in Coleridge's narrative, the sentient nature of all living things, even a snake demonized in theology. Johsua worked on rewriting his first paragraph to incorporate class instruction.
We analyzed D H Lawrence's poem "Snake" to explore how the poet uses allusion and personification to convey his complex perspective or moral quandary when the speaker confronts a snake drinking from his well. Stanza by stanza ,we discussed how the poem's personification of the snake followed by the poet's comparing the snake to a god and then a king conveys the speaker's moral dilemma as his instilled instinct to kill the snake struggles against his compassion for a living creature. We also reviewed Joshua's homework essay on the use of personification in Dickenson's "I could not stop for Death."

We investigated the tension in a string, the functions of a simple pulley, and a simple tug of war. A rope or string is a transmitter of force. If it is not moving, the force at two ends will be equal. The lab is designed to learn about balanced pairs of interaction forces, and how these forces are transmitted.
