Joshua continued drafting his research paper during today's session. After we finalized the definition section of the paper, I reviewed and provided suggestions and comments on the work Joshua has to date completed . I noted how to maintain tense consistency and suggested what subject area should begin the paper ,specifically the current reliance or use of technology in the classroom. Joshua then revised his work per my comments.
Joshua used the molecule building kits to create different molecules such as phenol, aromatics (hydrocarbons). Practiced making alkenes, napthalene, and halogen-containing molecules.
Joshua continued working on the initial draft of his research paper. I first made suggestions on the placement of a definition section. We further reviewed and inserted textual citations into the body of paper noting the proper MLA format for a book with two authors and an internet article. Last, we examined the absence of a citation when the name of the author is signaled in a sentence such as" Mr X claims that.........".
Joshua spent class being a school helper, helping us teachers determine the technical errors with our internet. Together we watched YouTube videos and and read articles trying to get to the bottom of it.
Today worked on the two factor authentication - finally got it to work by the end of class. Gave Elise work for Joshua to do during that time since he also had trouble signing in.

In today’s class, we put into practice what we learned so far in the topic of organic chemistry. With our new molecular model set, we were able to start constructing basic atoms, such as straight-chain hydrocarbons, up to much more complex molecules, such as benzenes and those with pie bonds.
Today was our first day with NO agenda! I asked Josh if he wanted to just chat and take a break or if he wanted to learn a little bit of calculus. He opted for both! We discussed the concept of continuity and what makes a function continuous. He already had understanding of when functions are undefined, so we used that to introduce limits. We used limit notation to define continuity. We had fun coming up with a piece wise function to model the situation.
