We reviewed this week's research task: completing note cards from sources culminating in the preparation of an outline. I provided instruction on formulating an outline from the note cards including creating the operative thesis statement. Joshua then continued reading his research materials and making note cards.
Joshua continued watching the AP Classroom Daily videos and answered questions as we went along. We discussed Third Party Politics and how they can disrupt elections.
Today Joshua and I started by finding a reference sheet for all of his "need to know" formulas for the AP Exam. Then we went through his homework. He got an 80% on it. We went through all of his incorrect answers and determined where the mistakes were made and then we made the corrections. We covered polynomials, sequences, trig ratios and more. Tomorrow we will focus on FRQs.
Warmup will consist of 6 laps with 5 burpees between each round. 50 situps challenge, 50 pushups, and 50 leg raise challenges- 15 Minutes of Breath of Life Yoga stretches- 10 Minutes of bag work-
In today’s class, we discussed both pH and pOH. We talked about what they tell us in the world of chemistry (acids and bases) and why they are important in things like reactions. We watched a video that helped described pH and pOH and the differences between them. We concluded with starting some practice problems that deal with calculating these numbers.
Joshua did a great job on his Homework yesterday. Today's class we pulled up a Mock Exam multiple choice no calculator. Josh and I went through each problem one at a time. Joshua led the work, articulating his thought process outloud. He got 10 problems in a row correct before he got one wrong. We reviewed concepts with polynomials, logarithms, and rational functions.
During the first segment, I provided instruction on note taking from sources. I first focused on finding background information and the controversies on the issue for the introduction . We discussed how the thesis will also flow from the stated controversies and be included in the introduction. Next, we discussed possible solutions referenced in the material as this information will assist in forming a conclusion. In terms of the body of the paper, the evidence, we reviewed the paper's requirements for at least 4 short quotes and 2 longer quotes. Further, I reminded Joshua to include source reference and page numbers on his note cards . Joshua then read through some of his research material and made note cards per class instruction.
