Cabo took a pre-test today. It dealt with material that he has never been formally taught in class.

He was asked to still take the test under standard testing conditions. He was also asked to focus and to make his best attempt.

Cabo did a wonderful job with the pre-test. He was able to get 4 of the 12 questions correct. He was focused and engaged with the test.

This has been one of his top efforts in the class this year so far. Great job, Cabo.

Today Cabo and I reviewed some of our key findings from the prior class.

He was then asked to consider from multiple perspectives what information would be needed to make a Go-No Go decision.

Cabo discussed the effects that Etherium 2.0 may have on the market. He read a brief article on the typical timeframe of a start-up venture from initiation to break-even.

Cabo and I identified areas of information that need further investigation. We also discussed various assumptions that are being made and would be made in the process.

Cabo and I watched a video from the same creator as last week dealing with the subject of top GPU crypto mining graphics cards.

This video was highly informative and gave actionable information. Cabo was asked to do several calculations. In the process of doing the calculations, he had to evaluate if he had missed the timing for market entry in part due to the scalper rates being so high.

We reviewed the copious information from the video last class. Cabo made some strategic decisions as to the direction of future research. He decided to first focus on specific graphics cards and their cost. We researched several of nvidias offerings.

While they offer some impressive cards, many of them are currently out of stock as we may have predicted based on several of our sources claiming there is a current shortage.

Drafting Project Proposal
Lesson Outline
Cabo and I worked together to draft his project proposal. He communicated key information to me. We wrote the information on the board and on the iPad.

Cabo has a second great class today! He stayed off of his computer. He was engaged in the topic and the work. This is the great type of work I hope to see from Cabo. He should be commended for his efforts.

Cabo was asked to make sense of some of the numbers presented in the article that we read before the long weekend.

He was given a handout from the SBA regarding a sample lean business plan. He was given time to fill out an empty duplicate of the example with details that he might use if he were to create his own business.

He was also asked to generate critical questions that he should be asking if he were to pursue a hypothetical business of this sort.

Cabo is attending the full class time during our Computer Science hour. However, this happens to be the hour when outside time occurs. So, our sessions are tight with time.

Cabo was read an article from CNBC about two youths younger than he who mine cryptocurrency.

He seemed very engaged with the article. He made comments and asked questions as we went along.

He and I then did a brief S.W.O.T. analysis for a theoretical company that he could set up.

At the end of the analysis, the strengths seemed to outweigh the weaknesses, and he determined that he would like to investigate this topic further and do a more in-depth viability report.

Photo Slideshow Application Page

Cabo, with the help of a tutorial, made a page for a web application that could display a slideshow of photos that are uploaded by a user.

He had to generate all of the parts of the application including each input and display.

He then created the workflows on the backend of the application that coordinated the activities of the working parts.

Cabo and I had a talk at the start of the class concerning his experience in Math class.

He had some concerns. I encouraged him to voice those concerns to Judie. I also let him know of my concerns regarding his priorities during class time.

Practice Test

Cabo was given a practice test in his visual programming language.

He was required to recreate one of the applications that we had created in a prior class.

He had to do so without the help of the tutorial. He did a great job.

There were one or two instances when he required a little help but his overall performance was on par with a student who would have received a "B" on the test.

Now, having done this practice, I would expect his grade to be even higher on the actual test.

Scratch and Peer Consultation

Cabo was given the opportunity to create on Scratch.

He also was asked to showcase one of his earlier creations. He showed a student who is new to scratch the capabilities of the program and creative ways to use its framework.

Cabo also advised the student regarding optimal technology setups for a good generic school computer.
