Lucas shared with me today that he scored 13 points in his last game and had 15 shots on net! That's a huge improvement over last week. He said that he felt a lot more relaxed in game, and that because his team was down several players he felt like he needed to step up and make more plays/take a couple of risks. He was disappointed in the way that the game ended, but we talked about the value of holding yourself accountable and learning from your mistakes without beating yourself up or being too hard on yourself. He seemed receptive to the idea, but was still feeling like he could've played better or done something differently in the final moments of the game. I explained that those feelings can be great motivators, but that it's important not to dwell too much in the past or feel too negative about your past performances. All we can do is take what we can from the experience, learn from it, and strive to do better next time.
