Today, Atticus and I completed our daily gardening log observations and measurements. We then went inside and learned how to graph our observations on graph paper. We drew an x and y coordinate, labeled the x Days and labeled the y Height (in cm). We titled the graph Potato Plant Growth over Time. We learned how to use the squares on graph paper to accurately divide up our coordinates into evenly spaced sections so our graph is an accurate representation of our data. We also continued discussing the cell by watching a video of an amoeba consuming a bacterium. We observed that the amoeba moves around by its cilia. We watched a video of white blood cells engulfing bacteria cells. We discussed that the wbc's move around by cytoplasmic streaming and extension of their cytoskeletons.
After reviewing Atticus' most recent quiz, Atticus completed a comprehension exercise on chapter 8. In discussing the next chapter, Atticus again displayed impressive insight and acumen. Last, we addressed the thematic connection between having a secret and Claudia's quest to feel important.
