As I head to the airport tor my trip back to San Diego I am awaiting response when Cameron is feeling better to show the stand up and read his complete scripting. Cameron is really quick at comprehension and not bashful about getting down to business when tasked with writing a news story, on the spot, under pressure. Impressive!

Social Media and Online Communities: Popularity, Use & Purpose
Lesson Outline
Questions and concerns about social media are important because it appears the platform is here to stay. Even though it is barely a decade old, social media platforms have allowed the world to connect in unprecedented and unexpected ways. Whether it's someone reconnecting with a high school classmate or a protester reporting tear gas being fired into a crowd, social media's myriad of uses make it useful to nearly anyone who picks up a smartphone. Businesses, for example, can use the platforms to connect to a wider and younger audience, while journalists can also use it to gain information about events on the ground quicker than ever before. With such an enormous amount of users already, it is vital for people to understand and evaluate the truth in these platforms moving forward in the 21st century.

TV Documentaries: Research, Writing & Keeping an Audience
Lesson Outline
The documentary assignments continue: "The History of Amateurs at the US Open Golf Tournament". Documentary continues w/injecting himself into story, attention 'hook' for audience with Cameron's stand up / surprise on the golf course with him hitting a tee-shot then looking at the camera saying "I'm Cameron Kuchar and I'm trying to be the first amateur in 93 years to win the US Open Golf Championship, held this year at Los Angeles Country Club. It's a long shot and a long journey". Cameron was in person today and he continues to impress with his ability to be coached & implement. He dives right into writing without hesitation and comprehends my instructions / guidance on topics and how to think about the information gathered and presenting it to the audience in a way in which their eyes won't glaze over from boredom of facts, history etc. Impressive.

How Jackie Robinson Changed the World of Sports
Lesson Outline
Jack Roosevelt Robinson was an American professional baseball player who became the first African American to play in the MLB. Robinson broke the baseball color line when he started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. The Dodgers signing Robinson brought the end of racial segregation in professional baseball. Robinson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. During his 10-year MLB career, Robinson won the inaugural Rookie of the Year Award in 1947, was an All-Star for six consecutive seasons from 1949 through 1954, and won the National League the MVP Award in 1949—the first black player so honored.Robinson played in six World Series and contributed to the Dodgers' 1955 World Series championship. In 1997, MLB retired his uniform No. 42 across all major league teams; he was the first professional athlete in any sport to be so honored. MLB also adopted a new annual tradition, "Jackie Robinson Day", for the first time on April 15, 2004, on which every player on every team wears No. 42. Robinson's character, his use of nonviolence, and his talent challenged the traditional basis of segregation that had then marked many other aspects of American life. He influenced the culture of and contributed significantly to the civil rights movement. Robinson also was the first black television analyst in MLB and the first black vice president of a major American corporation, Chock full o'Nuts. In the 1960s, he helped establish the Freedom National Bank, an African-American-owned financial institution based in Harlem, New York. After his death in 1972, Robinson was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal and Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of his achievements on and off the field.
