Topic 4 Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities
Lesson Outline
4-1 Solving Systems of Equations by Graphing – We learned to use the graph systems of linear equations in two variables to find an approximate solution. Then we learned that the intersection of the graphs of a pair of linear equations is used to estimate the solution to a system. If two lines intersect at a point there’s exactly one solution. If two lines are the same, there are infinitely many solutions. If two lines are parallel, there is no solution.

Cameron continued with the assignment of starting a charter boat company in Fiji using the Lean Business Plan model. We had a great discussion of such a business - its mission, niche, cultural sensitivity, and an optional add-on of golf on the island.
In today's class, we continued our discussion on DNA and its bases, including talking about adenine, thymine, guanine, cytosine and uracil. We also began our introduction on DNA replication, including watching a video on the structure of DNA and how it replicates itself.

The Renaissance was a period in European history that spans the late 14 - 17th centuries. It was caused by a number of events, including the end of the Black Plague. The Renaissance was centered in Italy, especially in the city of Florence. It was a time of creativity and change in the political, social, economic and cultural life in Europe. People also began to change the way they viewed themselves and the world. The Renaissance overlaps with a number of other eras, including the Elizabethan Era, the Age of Exploration, and the Protestant Reformation. It also intersected with several major wars, including the 100 Years' War and War of the Roses. These two wars were fought over dynastic power and control over territory. The Renaissance is known for its art and Classical scholarship more than anything else. Some of the most well-known artists from this period were: Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci.
3-2 Linear Functions – We learned that linear functions can be represented in multiple ways, using words, tables, graphs, and rules. Function notation is a way to write the rules for a function f. The output of the function f (x), means that f is a function of the input variable x.
Today we reviewed current events from the U.S. President speaking before the United Nations in NY earlier this week to the escalation of Russia's war against Ukraine. Putin is beginning to draft soldiers to fight for Russia - some of them are convicts. The situation remains dire and Putin even alluded to the use of nuclear weapons earlier this week. Hurricane Fiona now targets Canada after hitting Bermuda with heavy rains. And some good news: death rates from cancer have fallen in the U.S.
Camerson chose to start a boating/snorkeling/fishing business in Belize. We will explore the various decisions that have to be made within the context of sustainability and the potential costs next week. Cameron is doing great!
In today's lesson, Cameron learned about heterotrophs and autotrophs, including what they are and what their function is in life. We also started our introduction into DNA, specifically discussing its structure and the four bases that it is composed of.
