Wrapping up por vs para; quiz; Reciprocal reflexives
Lesson Outline
We reviewed one last time in preparation for his quiz, he took the quiz (only 1 mistake). We concluded class with an introduction to reciprocal reflexives lesson 2.3 which we practiced in oral conversation.
Jackson studied today the differences in usage for "por" versus "para" in his first session and then we spent the rest of today's time together working on reinforcing the many rules involved through practice exercises.
Jackson had just started this topic at his previous school so we got into all the details of forming affirmative & negative commands only in the tú form including common irregular commands, stem-changers, car/gar/zar and go verbs and commands with pronouns involved. He practiced with written and computer exercises and we viewed a video to review/reinforce the rules in the 2nd portion of our sessions.
qué vs cuál; prepositional pronouns; Semana Santa- culture reading
Lesson Outline
Today's lesson started with a check on Jackson's understanding of when to use qué vs. cuál and I clarified an easy way to know how to use either to say what/which per context. I then checked his prior learning of prepositional pronouns as well as his vocab on prepositions. He needed some reinforcement there too. Finally, we did a read aloud, practice, translate culture reading on Easter week's importance in Spanish speaking countries. Moving to new mateial, Jackson recognized his most recent lesson at prior school in our new topic of informal commands so that is where we continue next week.
Final Review- all known tenses; double object pronouns
Lesson Outline
We did one final quick overview of the formation of the present, imperfect, preterite and present progressive regular verb tense endings and how they translate. We then moved onto review of direct and indirect object pronouns, then both together as double object pronouns applied to each of the four above-mentioned tense/time scenarios. Jackson worked on VHL Supersite 1 Ch 8.2 practice exercises online.

Lesson Comments
Jackson went home at lunch returned late to period 4.
I continued with review (with the aim of reinforcing and ensuring structures are not confused mentally) of irregular verbs in the present, preterite, imperfect and present progressive tense. We quickly skimmed over when to use the 2 recent past tenses, touched on tener expressions and reflexive verbs. The more we work, the more I can see his Spanish skills showing. We will conclude review tomorrow with double object pronouns. Jackson left at end of 6th- hair appt.
This was Jackson's first Spanish here and with me. We looked at his previous textbook and curriculum that he has covered thus far in grammar and vocabulary. We did general review of important structures, focusing on the present tense of the most important irregular verbs to ensure that he remembers his foundation before we progress to review of preterite and imperfect tenses.
