Liam and I began our session with a calendar activity - identifying the month, day of the week, date, time, weather, and his feelings. Liam then completed a warm-up activity - focusing on math skills. Liam completed Lesson 7.2 Make Picture Graphs - making a picture graph to record information and answer questions about a data set - completing guided practice, independent practice, and problem-solving problems. Lastly, Liam created a picture graph - asking peers what their favorite vegetable is.

Lesson Outline
Liam reviewed his new spelling words and their definitions. He wrote all his words into his notebook. He wrote them 3 times each, practiced spelling them out loud, and wrote a sentence for each new word. He will have his spelling test on Wednesday. He wrote down his new vocabulary words and wrote the definitions into his notebook. He used his glossary skills to look up the definitions in the back of the book. He learned about a metaphor, and wrote the definition into his notebook along with an example. He read, discussed and made predictions about his new story, "Juanita and the Beanstalk." We explored the characters, their problems, and the solutions to the problems. He wrote important facts about the story in his notebook.
Liam read, discussed, and answered comprehension questions over the Story, "Horrible Harry and the Ant Invasion." He explained what the problems were and tried to predict what solutions Harry might come up with.

Liam and I began our session with a calendar activity - identifying the month, day of the week, date, time, weather, and his feelings. Liam then completed a warm-up activity - focusing on math skills. Liam completed Topic 6 Vocabulary Review - reviewing vocabulary such as equal groups, multiples, multiplication, and number line. Lastly, Liam completed Lesson 7.1 Read Picture Graphs and Bar Graphs - using picture graphs and bar graphs to answer questions about data sets - completing guided practice, independent practice, and problem-solving problems.
I gave Liam the Ipad, and I worked with him to create an animation of a stick figure throwing a ball. Liam used what he learned to have his character jump up and throw the ball. Liam tested his animation and saved his work. Liam used the remaining time in class to create two bead art characters.
Liam and I worked step-by-step on drawing a character of his choice. We focused on line control and pressure control. We also worked on not drawing in one continuous line but rather breaking up lines for accuracy.
