Liam reviewed his spelling words, then he took his first spelling test and made a 100%. He wrote his new spelling words into his notebook, and then wrote each one 3 times each. He reviewed and wrote down his 8 new vocabulary words and their definitions. He used his glossary skills to look up each word in the glossary and find the definition. He read and discussed the story, "Gray Wolf Red Fox." He compared and contrasted the gray wolf and red fox.

Liam was so excited to talk about his trip to Brazil. We located Brazil on the map along with the two cities, Santos and Sao Paula, he visited. We began working on his new spelling assignment for the rest of the year. For the next few weeks, he will be given 15 spelling words on Monday, and will have a test over these words on Friday. Today we went through all the words, writing them 3 times each, writing a sentence for each word, and taking a practice test. We worked on several activities using digraphs. Our baby chicks hatched, so Liam spent time in the science lab observing and discussing the life cycle of chickens.

Liam visualized, read, spelled, and manipulated sounds in multi-syllable words containing -on, -an, -ify, and flexed vowels. He broke three syllable words into syllables before reading them, and he visualized, then completed a story.

Liam and I began our session with a calendar activity - identifying the month, day of the week, date, time, weather, and his feelings. Liam then completed a warm-up activity focusing on math skills. We then reviewed Liam's homework. Liam did excellently solving multiplication facts. Lastly, Liam completed Lesson 6.2 Area: Nonstandard Units - counting unit squares to find the area of a shape - completing guided practice, independent practice, and problem-solving problems.

Liam worked on a new project. He chose an artist to research and recreate one of his works. He chose Wassily Kandinsky and chose a set of his circle works to work on. We marked out his shapes and he started to use water color to color the circles in.

Liam and I worked to finish his figure drawing exercise. He learned to blend using a blending stump and he learned how to use a kneaded eraser. In the free time after he finished, we painted a city scene in acrylic paint.

Liam imaged, read, spelled, and manipulated sounds in words ending with a- (uh), and - ery. He broke pattern words into syllables and read, visualized then completed a story.

Liam worked on a figure drawing project with me step-by-step. Using the wood figure drawing dolls, we worked to create a realistic drawing of the figurine. We used white charcoal on black paper.

Liam read a story on the affect the moon's gravitational pull has on the Earth's tides. He discussed and answered questions about the different phases of the moon.
