We began a new multicultural story about a little girl from Korea who was attending a new school. The story focused on family traditions and making friends. He learned 8 new vocabulary words and their definitions. He used his glossary skills to look up the definitions. He read a reading comprehension story about, "Dad's First Day at a New Job," and answered in writing reading comprehension questions about this story. He completed an activity using short o words, and words that end with the k sound.
We reviewed his story from Wednesday and started an interactive notebook in which he wrote down all of his vocabulary words and their definitions. As we wrote down the vocabulary words, we used glossary skills to look up the definitions. He read a second story, " Bruno's New Home," that incorporated the vocabulary words from the first story. We discussed the story details and arrived at the moral of each story. He wrote the moral of the story into his notebook. In spelling we worked on short i and short o words. He was able to use these words in context, and identify their meanings
He completed an activity, "All About Me," explaining important facts about himself. He completed several activities demonstrating his reading and comprehension skills.
