"Trapped in a Video Game", Decimal Words, Additional Practice 1.4

Jase and I began our session with reading chapter eight of "Trapped in a Video Game" - focusing on reading accurately. Jase then reviewed decimal vocabulary words such as tenths, hundredths, and thousandths. Lastly, Jase continued working on Additional Practice 1.4 Understand Decimal Place Value. Jase will complete this activity tomorrow.

I was a substitute for Ms. Pat Tepas from 12:30-1:15. We continued reading the chapter eight of the book, "Trapped in a Video Game" and then I did math with him. Ms. Dorothy took Richard and I provided her with math to do with Richard.
Warm-Up Activity, Lesson 1.4 Quick Check & Self Assessment, Decimals in Standard Form
Lesson Outline
Jase completed a warm-up activity focusing on fourth-grade skills. This was easier for Jase and will allow Jase to review what he learned in fourth grade. Jase needed help with measuring length in centimeters, identifying sides on a pentagon, and two-digit by two-digit addition. Jase completed Lesson 1.4 Quick Check & Self-Assessment. We will continue practicing with Lesson 1.4 Understand Decimal Place Value. Lastly, Jase practiced writing decimals in standard form. Jase will complete six problems for homework (decimals in standard form and color the tenths) and return tomorrow, Thursday.

Jase expressed that he felt more comfortable with the warm-up sheet we did today (4th grade).
With a spinner game, Jase practiced consonant, vowel, consonant words with blends. With a bingo game, he practiced long vowel with silent e words. He read Who Was Walt Disney?
Warm-Up Activity, Lesson 1.4 Understand Decimal Place Value
Lesson Outline
Jase completed a warm-up activity focusing on fifth-grade skills. Jase had difficulty with division, fractions as percentages, time, and angles. We are going to switch to fourth-grade skills for our warm-up activities to review fourth-grade material. Lastly, Jase completed Lesson 1.4 Understand Decimal Place Value Additional Practice activity - focusing on writing decimals in standard, expanded, and word form and identifying equivalent fractions. Jase has mastered identifying equivalent fractions. However, he still needs additional practice with writing decimals in different forms. We will continue focusing on Lesson 1.4.

I am going to bump our warm-up activity sheets to fourth grade to review fourth-grade skills previously learned. Jase has difficulty with a lot of our warm-up questions.
Jase retold the key events from our last reading before reading the next two chapters of ‘Trapped in a Video Game.’ Our focus while reading was accuracy and self-monitoring.
Jase practiced dividing words into syllables using the vccv and vcv patterns. He identified open, closed, r- controlled, and -le syllables. We read the next chapter in ‘Trapped in a Video Game.’
Jase reviewed the consonant digraphs, th, wh and ph. He completed an assignment matching definitions of words with the digraphs and writing words with the correct digraph sound. We reviewed pronouns and antecedents. He completed two exercises practicing pronoun use and antecedents.
