The teacher reviewed the vocabulary from the previous class, and the student was able to successfully identify all of it. The teacher then introduced new vocabulary on greetings and animals. The student completed an activity for each topic, took notes in his notebook, and practiced pronunciation with the teacher.

Types/Forms of Government, Review for Quiz on Rights, Responsibilities, Citizenship etc. Explanation and definitions of several significant forms of Government: Democracy-Representative Democracy, Direct Democracy, Constitutional Monarchy (Parliamentary Democracy). Autocracy defined as authoritarian government with no involvement of citizens in lawmaking or policies. Dictatorship form of autocracy. Oligarchy government: Group of wealthy, powerful rulers who allow limited government involvement of citizens. Review of John Locke Natural Rights, Rousseau Social Contract, and Montesquieu Separation of Powers.

Lesson 2 Building a Time Line – We explored how geologists use correlation, evidence of Earth’s major events, and the fossil record to build a timeline of Earth’s history. They will create a scale model of the geologic timescale, and construct scientific explanations to enhance their understanding of how the geologic time scale is interpreted from rock strata and used to organize Earth’s history. We reviewed the fact that determining the absolute age of a rock is more accurate than the method of relative-age dating. We learned that all mass extinction events were caused by meteorites, asteroids, or comets impacting Earth. They occurred in small amounts of time, such as a few days or weeks.

2-3 Simplifying Variable Expressions – We learned the steps to complete the simplification of an algebraic expression. First we write the expression as a sum. Then we identified like terms and combine them. Next we tried to simplify an expression where we had to perform the distributive property as a first step.
