As we have been addressing how to incorporate fiction into textual evidence for an argumentative essay, today I provided instruction on how to compose a literary essay. First, I reviewed the themes in James' "Daisy Miller" and discussed how one could incorporate these ideas in response to a general AP prompt . I then distributed material on writing a literary essay, and we drafted an introductory paragraph to an essay prompt on the novel. I assisted JP in formulating a general controlling idea, introducing the setting and characters, and last stating a thesis .
