JPaul will have a Quiz on Friday on 1.1-1.3. Today we pulled problems from notes and homework that are similar to quiz questions. We reviewed exponents, factoring, simplifying rational expressions. Tomorrow we will finish the review.

Today we reviewed for the Midterm Exam over Ch. 1-7.

Today we continued Unit 4 and discussed the Loanable Funds Market. JP also did some practice questions on the AP Classroom website to prepare for the upcoming Progress Check.

Discussion of the location, climate, rainfall, fauna and flora which are located in boreal forest, temperate rainforest, temperate seasonal rainforest. Discuss the soil nutrition, decompositon and the effect humans have on these biomes.

As JP encountered some difficulty in the AP classroom MCQ's on thesis identification, we reviewed his multiple choice answers and addressed thesis identification in a non-academic essay where the writer may not explicitly articulate a thesis in the opening paragraph. We then studied how to write and to analyze a compare/contrast essay by studying Gladwell's essay comparing social movements on the 1960s with internet social movements today. JP did very well identifying the like items of comparison in the essay ,and we then discussed the writer's differentiation between the degree of sacrifice, and the amount of hierarchical organization in today's internet social movements vs the civil rights movement. We last analyzed how despite the logic of the essay and its strong organizational points, its conclusion can be questioned given that the writer neglects to reference internet social movements that have in fact produced results perhaps comparable with the social movements of the 1960s.

Today he completed activity 1.3 from the book, pages 27 and 28. After, he worked on his essay.

Today we watched a documentary called "Full Swing", which highlights the achievements and struggles of pro golfers on their journey.

Today, we continued Ch. 8 and discussed key elements when pitching business ideas to investors to raise capital.

JPaul was late to school today and did not make it to our class. The time was spent creating the quiz he will take this week.
