Lesson Comments
Libby didn't like being outside doing sidewalk chalk because of bug bites. Her mother gave her some bug cream the first day, so I think she is very sensitive to bug bites.

Actions Words, Key Phrases, Greeting
Lesson Outline
Libby and I reviewed her action words from last week.

As expected, with the break in time between classes, she was in need of a memory refresher.

We reviewed our key phrases like water, please and bathroom, please. We added the key phrase eat please.

We introduced how to say hello and how are you. Libby had animals from around her room (like hammy, violet, fuzzy, flamingo) say hello to each other and ask each other how they were doing.

Libby had some great questions during our lesson about how to say things like good evening and the like.

Lesson Outline
To begin, Libby focused on writing the numbers 2 - 5 using proper technique and formation. Then, we worked on the concept of 1 less and 1 more using a number line to jump back or forward 1 jump. Today's lesson focused on the numbers 0 - 5. Libby traced and wrote the numbers, counted objects to tell how many, and determined numbers that came just before or after. She finished with a cut-and-paste activity on ordering the numbers 1 - 10.

This morning, Libby requested to play the game Popcorn again which began our lesson. Then, Libby worked on the number of the day. She practiced writing the number 3 in standard and word form, circled it on a number line, colored 3 base ten blocks, and wrote the 1 less and 1 more digit. Libby also used a hundreds chart to count to 100 and flashcards to match the numbers 0 - 5 to their word form. Finally, Libby finished with a cut-and-paste activity matching the digits 0 - 5 to groups of items which she then colored.
