Libby wrote letters on the boogie board. I showed her letter tiles and had her name the letters. I read Horton Hears a Who while Libby held the Horton stuffed animal. We watched the video of the book.
Introduce the textbook to Libby. Have her find things like a map, a real picture, words. Talk about what a community is and how a family is a community. Talk about what our families are like.
Libby completed her interactive calendar. She wrote her lower case ABC's. She began to learn about the 5 senses. She watched a video about the 5 senses, and completed several activities about the 5 senses and put these written activities into her interactive science notebook.
This morning, we worked on an activity focusing on the digits 0 through 4. Libby traced and wrote the digits, using proper number formation before she cut and pasted the matching digits. Then, she used a puzzle to match the digits 1 - 10 with their correlating puzzle pieces. Libby focused on counting the puzzle piece objects, keeping her counting voice and finger at the same pace.
Today, Libby was introduced to 5 Spanish verbs by -acting them out -seeing them on note cards -repeating them aloud -drawing accompanying pictures and -writing the first letter of each of the words. By the end of the class, Libby was able to recognize the words and do the accompanying action. She is an astute learner of the language and quickly paired the words with actions.
She was able to fairly consistently translate the Spanish verb to English when quizzed at the end of class.
Libby was so focused that she finished slightly early. She was given the choice of acting out her verbs outside or listening to a Spanish book read aloud.
Libby used Play Doh and capital letter cookie cutters to make letters and name them. I showed her lower case letter cards for her to name. I read Rainbow Fish while she used a puppet. We talked about the story for comprehension.
This morning, Libby and I took time to get acquainted while she worked on a math about me activity. While working, she struggled to recall how to write certain digits which she practiced with a tracing activity. Then, we sang and danced to a counting by 1s to 100 song.
