This morning, Libby and I reviewed the doubles facts and friends of 10 addition strategies. Then, she worked on ordering numbers in groups of 10 up to 30 from least to greatest and comparing numbers up to 20. Finally, Libby began answering questions from the grade 1 readiness assessment.
Libby and I read books about the following social-emotional skills: overdoing it, complaining, being messy and being forgetful. We discussed how to avoid these negative behaviors and how to replace them with positive ones.
Libby worked on the doubles fact strategy to help her understand halving and doubling quantities while also preparing for the future strategy on using known doubles facts to find near doubles. We reviewed the doubles facts to 10 before Libby worked online, recognizing the doubles facts showing the correct sums.
Libby chose to make something for Mother’s Day instead of continuing her dollhouse project. She didn’t want to do a jewelry box like Teddy, so we brainstormed and made a layered paper flower using a snowflake-style cutting technique. She helped select the green felt that will line Teddy’s jewelry box- Teddy approved her choice.

Lesson Comments
Originally, I planned to share 2 kits with Libby and Teddy. Libby wasn't that interested so we ended up playing with the dollhouse. She had a very good time creating stories and games.
We read a story in our session today and Libby colored the illustrations as I read. She was guided to answer questions after identifying the title, author, and illustrator. I reread some of the story to assist her in finding the answers.
We read a chapter book and i guided Libby to pay attention to the story elements. We began by first identifying the story's title, the author, and the illustrator. Then, Libby answered questions pertaining to the story. She enjoyed coloring the illustrations as I read the story.
