We read a chapter book and i guided Libby to pay attention to the story elements. We began by first identifying the story's title, the author, and the illustrator. Then, Libby answered questions pertaining to the story. She enjoyed coloring the illustrations as I read the story.

Practice beginning and ending sounds for words. Work with letter cards to build word families with single and double consonants (like mug and slug). Libby selected several easy reader books and we read them together, sounding out words and pointing out sight words. Libby practiced writing the word families.

Libby completed her interactive calendar, read and discussed her vocabulary words, finished her calendar talk and calendar writing activity, put together her daily sentence puzzle, and assembled her Mother’s Day gift.

We played songs on the electric keyboard, and learned the note names for the keys.

Prepare a batch of miso soup and a side of steamed edamame

This morning, Libby and I began with a review of the Make a 10 strategy. Libby was given groups of items less than 10 and she determined how many more she would need to have 10 in all. We continued to practice this skill with imaginative play using her stuffies at a pretend tea party. Next, we worked on the doubles strategy. The doubles fact to 10 were written on the whiteboard and we listened to a doubles fact song.

Practice random letter symbols and sounds. Write the upper or lower case letters for examples given. Decode short cvc and short vowel words with the ch, sh, and th digraphs. Do sight word practice sheet and practice letter formation. Read decodable book. Draw and write to practice sentences.

We looked at images of fun places in Spanish speaking countries that people can visit.

We used key Spanish words while we discussed the images.

Libby completed her interactive calendar, read and discussed her vocabulary words, finished her calendar talk and calendar writing activity, worked on her phonics activities, put together her daily sentence puzzle and read and discussed her Scholastic News Magazine about jellyfish.

Use the discovery of a caterpillar building a cocoon to create a short story...illustrate and write three simple sentences. Practice short vowel sounds and build words together. Write the word you and then complete a sheet for and, you, & look.
