Imaginative story-telling.
Lesson Outline
Libby created an imaginative story using her dollhouse and its characters. We discussed the correct order of chronological events that were occurring in Libby's story which revolved around a typical day in the life of the dollhouse family. Libby assigned roles to the characters and assigned their roles accurately. She has a vivid imagination, and she created realistic sound effects while portraying the different roles of the various family members as they interacted with one another.

Number Sense
Lesson Outline
Today, Libby worked on a number sense activity. She was given a number line numbered 0 through 100 that had been cut into pieces. Libby found the piece that began with 0, counted the numbers on that piece, and determined which number came next. Then, she looked for the next group of numbers, which continued until all pieces were in order. Finally, Libby taped them together to create a long number line.

OG
Lesson Outline
I began with visual, auditory, and blending drills. Libby is close to automaticity with all of the letters and digraphs taught, wavering only with "qu," "ck," and "ch." Her confidence when blending CVC words is so encouraging. I read a chapter of "Where Are You Going, Baby Lincoln?" by Kate DiCamillo; Libby colored the illustrations as I read, and we paused to make predictions, ask questions, and summarize the text. Libby has remarkable recall and makes observations beyond her years. I dictated a sentence for her to write and edit (Baby is on the train.) Libby's letter formation and encoding are good; we will work on properly spacing words. Great job, Libby!
