Libby completed her interactive calendar, read and discussed her vocabulary words, finished her calendar talk, put together her daily sentence puzzle, worked on her phonics activities, learned how a tornado is formed and made a tornado in a jar.
Today's lesson focused on skip counting by 10s. Libby used her hundreds chart to practice skip counting by 10 while visually seeing how each number is written. Then, she counted groups of objects by 10 up to 100 and wrote the amounts. Libby finished with an adding and subtracting numbers to 5 facts check.
Libby and I read the book "The Rough-Face Girl" which tells the story about how good character is rewarded and poor character is not rewarded. We talked about how the girl is kind in her heart, even though she looks rough on the outside. She is rewarded for her good character.
Libby had just come from a phonics session with Suzanne, so I pivoted and taught a language arts lesson. With the novel "Where Is Baby Lincoln?" by Kate DiCamillo, I taught the following literary concepts: title, author, illustrator, title page, main character, and setting. We made predictions and asked questions (Where is Baby going? Why does she want to leave?) as we read. At the conclusion of the session, we summarized what we read.

Lesson Comments
I am going to be teaching Libby language arts for one hour starting Monday, so I thought it was appropriate to teach this lesson.
