This morning, Libby worked on number sense activities. First, she wrote in numbers that came between 2 given numbers. Then, she wrote numbers that were one more and one less than the shown numbers. Finally, we used an interactive hundreds chart to help find and name numbers from 1 through 100.

This morning, Libby worked on a teen number wall reference. She cut and pasted the numbers 11 through 20 in numeral form, word form, and groups of objects showing these amounts onto a chart. This was hung on her wall to join the 1 through 10 reference made earlier in the year. To finish, Libby worked on a plus 2 facts check.

Libby completed her interactive calendar, read and discussed her vocabulary words, finished her calendar talk, wrote in her barometer logbook, put together her daily sentence puzzle, and transplanted her sunflower into a new pot.

Libby was in great spirits today. At first, she wanted to continue making clay food for the dollhouse, but I suggested we try expanding the environment itself. She decided to add a bathroom and we collaborated on sculpting a toilet and sink out of clay. She requested to include a piece of “poo” in the toilet, which I agreed to—framing it as a lighthearted but logical creative decision. The humor kept her engaged and it provided a unique opportunity to reinforce her understanding of spatial storytelling.

Libby began class today playing with the dollhouse and dolls, which has become a consistent interest for her. While the initial plan was to experiment with collaging, she expressed a strong preference for three-dimensional work. Responding to this, we shifted focus and created more miniature clay food for the dolls—this time, crafting tiny burgers. Libby also showed growing enthusiasm for storytelling and puppetry, which could be an exciting direction to explore in future sessions.

Libby seemed very tired today. Instead of our structured lesson, I worked on a few alphabetic awareness skills. Libby sequenced the alphabet and identified the vowels and consonants. We played a game of Phonics Dice to practice letter sounds. I read the final book in the "Mercy Watson" series to conclude the session.

Next, Libby matched the plus 10 flashcards we made last week to the correct teen number. Finally, Libby played number recognition Bingo with the numbers 1 through 30.
