Lesson Comments
During today's substitute session with Libby, she was very observant about the behavior of numerous monarch butterflies in the Batt Sch. milkweed patch. She also enjoyed the video presentation of the intelligent behavior of Orca Whales. A very positive experience with her!
Libby completed her interactive calendar, read and discussed her vocabulary words, finished her calendar talk activity, put together her daily sentence puzzle, checked on her rain puddle and rain gauge, and made a barometer and a barometer log to keep track of the weather predictions.
Libby seen in her room for a 45 minute occupational therapy treatment session. Focus of therapy on improving her ocular motor skills, visual perceptual abilities, fine motor development, visual motor skills, sensory motor skills and graphomotor skills. Began treatment with executive functioning exercises with identification and recall. Libby is now able to recognize 100% of the uppercase alphabet without pause. We worked on fine motor refinement while Libby colored wooden 3-inch letters using small distal movements. Today we learned how to form the lowercase letters "w and y". Libby was taught the specific line placement of these letters with adequate understanding. She has been forming the letter "y" from right to left versus left to right, making the "long stick" first. She was instructed today that "y" is formed by making a "short stick" then a "long stick". Good focus, good session.
This morning, Libby focused on understanding the vocabulary terms before, after, and between on a number line. To begin, she used a number line to help her find the answers and was then encouraged to visualize the numbers and find the answers from memory. Next, Libby recognized the difference between curved and straight lines on given shapes and completed a plus 1, minus 1 facts check.
