Libby and I continued to work on greetings throughout the day. She listened to her greetings song. While listening to the song, we started construction on giant paper dice.
We discussed the greetings that she may use like good morning, good afternoon, and goodnight. She asked about a diagram that I brought with me that showed the position of the sun during the day and which greeting might be appropriate at that time.
On the dice that we made, we placed pictures for good morning, good afternoon, and good night.
Libby used paint markers, rubber stamps, and writing paper to practice her sight words (the, and, on, off, with, has) and short vowel words. I read a Christmas book to her.
Libby completed her interactive calendar. She read and discussed her vocabulary words. She put together her daily sentence puzzle. She read, discussed, and watched a video about the acorn woodpecker.
Talk about what Libby knows about Santa Claus. Have her give details about what she thinks of when asked about Santa. Show a kid video about Santa around the world and what children do the night before he visits. Read The Knights Before Christmas and discuss what Santa is doing in this book.
Share fun facts about different holiday celebrations that are found in our country and around the world. Talk about what traditions we have in our families and how are they similar and different to each other.
This morning, Libby began working on the topic assessment on classifying and counting data. She classified objects into two categories and then described why they were in each category. Then, the objects in each group were counted and compared. Finally, questions were answered on whether the way objects were sorted, counted, and compared made sense. Libby will continue to work on this assessment tomorrow.
We played Bingo with short vowel words. Libby used the sand tray and writing paper to practice sight words (and, the, on, off, with, has) and short o words. I read a Christmas story to her.
