Libby completed her interactive calendar. She put together her daily sentence puzzle. She read her vocabulary words. She read her Scholastic News Magazine about Owls. She watched a video about owl pellets.
Libby and Teddy did some fitness challenges today.
We did a 1-lap challenge on the perimeter of the field.
Next, we did a pacer run and we finished with a push-up test.
This morning, Libby practiced writing the numbers 1 through 10 before we began the next unit on understanding addition. Today's lesson explored addition and how to show numbers in many ways such as with objects, fingers, pictures, or mental images. Libby colored objects to represent parts and wrote the number to tell how many in all. Then, she made a red and green mosaic plus sign to hang on her wall.
Libby used glitter pens, dry erase board, and writing paper to practice sight words (and, on, the, with, off, has) and short vowel words. Libby did a new story in her journal. She dictates sentences to me, and I write them for her to copy into her journal. I read a Christmas story to Libby.
Libby used chalk markers, Play Doh, and writing paper to practice her sight words (and, on, the, with, off, has) and short vowel words. We started a book of stories. I read a Christmas book to her.

Lesson Outline
Libby completed her interactive calendar. She put together her daily sentence puzzle. She learned about solids, liquids, and gasses. She read and discussed a Scholastic Magazine about Cookie Monster. She made cookies demonstrating how heat can change a solid into a more liquid form, and then back to a solid when it cools. She made an ornament for the tree.
Libby completed the topic assessment on classifying and counting data. She answered questions on classifying objects into two categories and then described why they were in each category. Then, the objects in each group were counted and compared. Finally, questions were answered on whether the way objects were sorted, counted, and compared made sense. Libby needed some of the questions read numerous times and was encouraged to focus and listen carefully. She has made good progress and showed a satisfactory understanding of this concept.
During her painting process, she was asked to mix up a number of hues of purple by mixing her base purple with increasing amounts of white and/or black paint.
She did an excellent job of mixing and of choosing a wide range of hues for her work.
She was encouraged to experiment and to think for herself during the exercise.
