This morning, Libby practiced properly writing the numbers 1 through 10. Then we worked on classifying and counting data with today’s lesson focusing on sorting categories by counting. Groups of objects were sorted, classified, and counted. Then, Libby compared the numbers in each category and recognized greater and lesser quantities.
Introduce Holidays around the world as the Unit we will be doing this month. Talk about how we each celebrate Christmas and that there are other ways from around the world as well as other fall/winter holidays that are similar. Begin to create our project suitcase to store any craft projects we make.
Libby completed her interactive calendar. She changed her calendar from November to December. She assembled her STEM Project, a battery-operated doodling robot.
Libby used the boogie board, rubber letters, and writing paper to practice short vowel words and sight words (the, and, on). I read a Christmas book and discussed it.
Libby completed her turkey craft this morning and placed it in her basket to take home. Then, we played a game similar to Chutes and Ladders but with a hundreds chart as the game board. We took turns rolling a die and moving that number of spaces. Libby practiced moving from row to row on the chart and reading each number that was landed on.
Read "Dinosaur Thanksgiving". Compare what the two dinosaur families ate for their meals and compare to what we eat. Have Libby write things she is thankful for on feathers and create a turkey by gluing them and the body onto a piece of paper.
We colored some music themed coloring sheets, and we talked about the snare drum. We listened to some snare drum solos, and played some basic rhythms on the practice pad.
Libby and I practiced the following yoga poses: butterfly, sitting toe touch, flex and point feet, head rolls, spinal twist, banana split, downward dog and breathing. We also played ping pong.
