Review map key and the directions we learned so far. Show different maps and where we find the map key looks different and how the directions all are the same. Show how on a map, North is up, East is to the right, South is down, and West is to the left. Give the vocabulary word Compass Rose.
Introduce North, South, East, and West. Show where they are in the room and place cards on the wall labeling them. Go around the halls and state which way it is together. Talk about how they help us know where to go.
Today, Libby worked on two different activities to help keep her engaged. The first was a cut-and-paste activity on numbers, number words, and counting objects with the digits 1 through 10. Libby cut strips of paper showing the numbers, number words, and groups of animals. Then, one by one she took a paper strip and glued it in order and in the correct row. Then, Libby filled in the missing numbers on a 1 - 10 number line and colored a candy corn picture.
