Begin to work on lesson 2 on maps, focusing on going from our school map to what a neighborhood map shows. Show what a map key is and what it is used for from page 46-47 of workbook. Read 58-61 in textbook about neighborhoods. Libby drew a picture of an imaginary neighborhood.
This morning, Libby worked on a greater than, less than, equal to book. She cut out the pages and stapled her book together. On each page, the page number was written, 2 groups of items were compared, and the correct comparison symbol was glued in between the groups. Then, she answered questions from topic 2 on counting objects and recognizing greater than or less than.
Libby completed her interactive calendar. She read her vocabulary words. She started a unit on the pumpkin. Using her 5 senses she described a real mini pumpkin. She began making an interactive flip booklet about pumpkins. She checked on her corn seeds and made notations in her corn logbook. She completed an activity explaining
the life cycle of corn.
Libby used paint markers and sidewalk chalk to practice her letters. On lined paper, she practiced the basement letters (g, j, p, q, y). We read Clifford books and reviewed title, author, illustrator.
Using the workbook, review our school map. Show that maps can represent small and large areas. Show pictures of different types of maps that show the same area in different ways.
This morning, Libby continued to work on the Topic 2 assessment comparing numbers 0 to 5. She compared groups of objects and determined if one group was greater than, less than, equal to, or not equal to the other group using matching. She also drew quick pictures to compare given numbers. Libby was struggling to focus so we began working on a number comparison book and will leave the remaining questions for tomorrow.
Libby completed her interactive calendar. She changed the calendar from September to October noting that October had one more day than September. She learned about the life cycle of corn, and planted corn seeds. She watched a video on how corn grows.
We attempted to play badminton today but we had little success.
So we switched gears and did some fitness activities including cardiovascular exercises and strength training.
