Libby was seen in her room for a 45-minute treatment session with the focus of therapy on fine motor skills specifically grasp patterns, ocular motor skills (saccades), self care skills, and handwriting. Libby participated well and was focused throughout her treatment session. Continued to work on increasing dexterity, manipulation and hand strength with putty and hidden object activity. Libby enjoyed using the intrinsic muscles of her hands to find the hidden objects in the moderately resistive putty. We continued therapy with visual recall and recognition of both uppercase and lowercase alphabet letters today. Libby was able to recognize and name every letter of the uppercase alphabet except for the letters V, P and J. Last week she needed minimum verbal cues for the letter "B" D" this week she knew them. Last week she couldn't recognize H, v and O this week she knew H and O. Both weeks she could not recognize uppercase "V". She is making solid improvement with recall for her letters. We will start with handwriting program next week 10/03/2024 using Print Island to teach Libby the correct formation of the lowercase letters. She needs to work on her recall and recognition of the lowercase alphabet as well. Good session, progress is steady.
Libby used the rice tray to trace letters. She played bingo to find letters. On writing paper, she wrote the attic letters (b, d, f, h, k, l, t). We sang Old McDonald with vowels. I read Rooster's Off to See the World by Eric Carle. We discussed title, author, and illustrator.
Libby wrote letters using the magic change color markers. She used rubber stamps of lowercase letters and matched them to uppercase letters. We sang Old McDonald for the vowels. We sang the Jolly Phonics song. On writing paper, she practiced her basement lowercase letters (g, j, p, q, y). I read Little Cloud by Eric Carle, and we discussed author and illustrator.

Lesson Comments
When Libby first came, she was sad and said she didn't get a hug from her Mommy. She said that a few times and started getting tears. I told her that I could hug her if that would help. Immediately, she gave me a big hug. I held her until she let go. Then she perked up and was able to do her work. I was glad that it was so easy to fix her sadness!
This morning, Libby worked on the Topic 2 assessment comparing numbers 0 to 5. She compared groups of objects and determined if one group was greater than, less than, equal to, or not equal to the other group using matching. She also drew quick pictures to compare given numbers. Libby was unable to complete all of the questions and will continue tomorrow.
Using pages 36-41 in the workbook and textbook pgs. 42-43, show Libby a state and country map to show her where we live in Florida and the United States.
Interactive Calendar Chipmunks ABC's Numbers1-30 Counting by 2's Reading Comprehension

Read from the textbook about citizens in our community. Discuss the pictures we see and how they are helping. In workbook, draw and color a picture of being helpful and help Libby write what she is doing. She asked how we can help people far away and we talked about what a volunteer is and what donating is-
Recall what a good citizen does and what rights and responsibilities are. Read The Little Red Hen in the workbook and talk about how sharing is good, but if you don't help others, they may choose not to share with you. Role play ways to ask to share something and how to say yes or no politely. Do both positive and negative ways and talk about how they make us feel.
