Letter Work and Reading
Lesson Outline
We used uppercase and lowercase magnetic letters to copy words on a page. She used the boogie board to write uppercase and lowercase letters. I showed her an uppercase letter, and she wrote the lowercase letter to match. I read two more books by Denise Fleming. We located the title and author on each book. We looked at all of Denise Fleming's books and discussed how you can tell her artwork.

Greater / Less Than
Lesson Outline
This morning, Libby practiced writing the numbers 1 - 10 with a trace and write activity. Then, she used dot-to-dot pictures to practice counting from 1 - 50. Our lesson looked at how to model math problems with objects, drawings, and numbers to compare numbers. Libby took red and blue counting cubes from a bag one by one and placed them in piles according to their color. Then, she determined which color had a greater amount. Libby continued with the lesson's problems, counting and comparing pictures and selecting the lesser or greater amount.

Fun with numbers and taking turns
Lesson Outline
Libby and I took turns building a tower. She remembered the phrase my turn! She did an amazing job using this phrase at the appropriate time during our class.

She was able to request the number of blocks that she wanted more independently but still mixes up the order of some of the numbers between 1 and 10. I will discuss this with her math teacher.

Libby was formally introduced to the Spanish alphabet today. We said all of the letters aloud. We took the time to point out that Spanish has an additional letter. We discussed and practiced the sound that the double r, double l make. We discussed the similarity of the sounds of the b and v. And, we discussed how the peoples of different countries may say the z sound differently.

Libby should continue to practice her double r sound. She currently is trying to make it with her lips after having difficulty making the sound with her tongue. I encouraged her to continue practicing and learning and moving the sound to the tip of the tongue.

Then, we used a hundreds chart to practice counting and recognizing numbers. Libby closed her eyes and pointed to numbers which she then practiced saying. Finally, we watched a quick video on comparing numbers before we used the number cards 1 - 10 and the greater than, less than, equal to gators to compare numbers.
