Libby continued working on shadow puppets. She chose different characters from a list presented to her. We spent time printing these images on card stock. We cut the photos out. We found sticks to mount to the back of the shadow puppets. We started gluing the sticks to the back of the pictures and taping them so they could dry.
Interactive Calendar Living Nonliving Vocabulary ABC's Numbers1-30 Apples Johnny Appleseed
Lesson Outline
Libby completed her interactive calendar. she wrote her ABC's, her numbers from 1-30 and wrote about living systems. She worked on some apple math. She made a Johnny Appleseed puppet.
Today we did a warmup jog on the perimeter of the field.
We came back and played a couple of rounds of hide-and-seek.
We then finished a game of monopoly.
Libby was interested in recreating a Winnie-the-Pooh painting hanging in the hallway. We took pictures and I sketched out the scene while Libby took great care of choosing the colors and coloring. While we worked, we discussed how the Pooh characters are good citizens and ways that we can be too.
Libby began with the number of the day activity. She practiced writing the number 6 in standard and word form, circled it on a number line, colored 6 base ten blocks, showed 6 in a 10 frame, and wrote the 1 less and 1 more digit. Then, we reviewed how to write the numbers 0 - 6 with a trace and write activity and she reviewed the number words with flashcards. Today's lesson compared groups to 5 by counting. Libby counted groups of items, wrote their totals, circled the greater amounts, and put an x on the lesser amounts.
Libby used paint markers to write the letters I told her. She wrote all upper case. On writing paper, I had her write the letters that she didn't immediately know in the previous activity (D, E, G, J, K, N, V). We sang the Jolly Phonics song that emphasizes the letter sounds. I read Beetle Bop and discussed the author, Denise Fleming.

Lesson Comments
Libby was late again. She is getting better at saying her letters and sounds as well as writing them.
Libby used magic change color markers to practice her letters. She used rubber stamps of lower case letters to match with a paper with upper case letters. On writing paper, she practiced writing the upper case letters. I read The Cow that Went Oink while she held my cow and pig stuffed animals. She did a page matching the letters with pictures.
Libby painted her pinch pot for the duration of class. When she was done with her first coat of paint, she set her pot to dry and worked on creating a lid and a handle.
