Numbers and 1-10 and taking turns
Lesson Outline
Libby was required to use two phrases today that she had learned before.

She used the phrase eat please. With only minimal prompting, she was able to remember to use the first sounds of the two English words Coke (like the drink), and married to remember the Spanish word Comer. This was a noticeable improvement from our previous session.

She also used the phrase my turn and her numbers with less prompting today. Twice she was able to arrive at the number without having to count up to it.

Lesson Comments
Libby had two concerns during class.

She said that her arm hurt from playing tennis and requested an ice pack.

She also had what appeared to be a small bump appear on her arm. I did not see it at the start of class. Then it looked like a small bug bite then it grew in size and redness. We took her to the front office to contact home.

Topic 1
Lesson Outline
This morning, Libby completed the unit 1 review on the numbers 0 - 5. She practiced counting to show how many were in groups regardless of their order, recognized that the last number said when counting was the group total, practiced reading and writing numbers, wrote the numbers 0 - 5 in order, and understood that zero represents none. Libby did great, showing a solid understanding of these concepts. Then, we continued to work on the greater than, less than, equal to craft for our future lessons with Libby working on the greater than gator.

Numbers 1-10, My turn
Lesson Outline
Libby practiced her numbers 1-10. She will fairly consistently say nueve (nine) when she gets to the number six or seven. If this continues, I will try to converse with her math teacher to see if this something that she does in English as well.

She then would say the phrase my turn in Spanish to start her turn of getting to set up the Jenga blocks like dominoes. She would request a number of blocks between one and ten using the Spanish word.

The teacher would then take a turn following the same pattern to provide repetition. Libby was responsible for counting out the requested number of blocks for the teacher.

Libby currently needs to count from 1 up to the number she desires to express in order to say it. This is common amongst learners. Hopefully, she will be able to state the desired number without this support as we continue to use the numbers.

Topic 1
Lesson Outline
Libby worked on the topic 1 assessment with questions on reading, writing, making, and ordering the numbers 0 - 5. We focused on understanding the questions using good listening skills and marking the desired answer properly. Next, we worked on a greater than, less than, equal to craft for our future lessons. Libby cut out a less than sign, pasted pieces of green construction paper to the sign, glued on eyes and teeth, and attached popsicle sticks for reinforcement. Tomorrow after answering additional questions from the assessment, she will make the greater than gator.
