Today's lesson focused on the history of the town Mount Dora, Florida. We discussed and read how the Native Americans have lived in this town for over 3,000 year. We discussed how the pioneers/ founders set up settlements in this town. Gwendolyn and I discussed how the information of the town can be displayed on a timeline in sequential order.
Bobby and I researched, watched brief videos, and explored the online components of his Social Studies program as we learned about the Native American tribes of Florida. Lesson Comments
Will likes to stay on task when it comes to reading about history and social studies. I wish my college students were equally interested in their subject matter!
Martin L. King: We studied Dr. King's peaceful lead to establish equality to Afro-Americans. We read a part of his speech "I have a Dream" and finally the assassination. Marina expressed her opinion about the unfair treatment of Afro-American people not allowed in public restaurants and having to sit in rear of buses, "that's not right", said Marina. Good job Marina
